Responsibilities*
- Independently develops, designs, and conducts In Vitro and In Vivo research
projects/protocols; develops research plan, reviews progress and evaluates results with PI. - Formulates research methods and suggests options for improving quality; identifies potential
problems, recommends and implements solutions. Consults to refine or adapt
methodologies to fit research requirements; collaborates in development of new techniques
and instruments. - Gathers and interprets data; supervises data collection and verification; and has oversight
for literature reviews. Performs data analysis, interprets results, and designs figures for
publications. Coordinates the processing and analysis of data and the conduct of
experimental tests and suggests new or revised research methodologies. Coordinates
development of research goals, project design and procedure. - Expected to co-author the research publications. Expected to write independent articles and
make formal presentations with or without the PI. Expected to present at national
conferences. Assist in writing research support proposals. Function as subject specialist,
needing little direction or review of work. - Assist in making decisions about the direction and performance of the research work.
Required Qualifications*
Intermediate: Education and Experiences: Bachelor's degree in biological sciences (Molecular/Cellular Biology, Immunology, Neuroscience etc.) and 4 to 5 years related research experiences in laboratory settings with demonstrated ability or publication record to perform high-quality research. Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree preferred.
Senior: Bachelor's Degree required. 5-6 years of related experience, i.e., published in a field of specialty and academic knowledge in a field or discipline. Master's or Doctoral Degree preferred.
Lead: Bachelor's Degree required. 6+ years of related experience, i.e., published in a field of specialty and academic knowledge in a field or discipline. Doctoral Degree in field of expertise or Master's Degree and equivalent experience preferred.
- Rodent handing experiences including tail vein injection, intra-cardiac injection and rodent surgery skills are required.
- Highly organized, consistently meets deadlines, and be eager to learn new techniques related his/her project.

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
